This past Saturday I was lucky enough to participate in a community service event held by the organizers of Broccoli City Festival in order to earn a discounted ticket to the festival. We made over 800 lunches for the less fortunate and it was a great feeling to be a part of a movement to end hunger in DC and surrounding areas. What made it even better was the venue where the event was held, a concert hall called the Blind Whino. Complete with an art gallery it was one of the most beautiful buildings I’ve seen in DC. Take a look at some of the pics I took!
Todays fit is definitely inspired by Kanye (I’m aware how much of a douche bag he is but I cannot deny his contributions to the fashion industry). The thing I’m starting to notice though, is the over saturated use of this aesthetic, and at happy hour yesterday I saw two other people wearing the same jacket as me 😑. I definitely won’t stop wearing this bomber but will consider styling it in a way more unique to myself.
Last Sunday I went to Soussi, a hookah bar and lounge in Adams Morgan. It was a nice dimly lit spot, with great food (the fries are so delicious and I recommend the spicy chicken sandwich) drinks, and of course every flavor of hookah you can think of, though I didn’t participate in the smoking (I’ve heard about the health risks so I wasn’t interested). I highly recommend this place for a group of 4-8 friends for a chill and laid back night filled with laughter and good music.
Yesterday I paid a visit to the D.C. National Zoo, with some of the students I tutor for the Precollege program at UMD. It was a great experience and I hadn’t been to the zoo in about 12 years so it was very special to me.
