Travel: Marine Day Festival

Marine Day (July 18th) is my first official holiday in Japan! Even though I technically didn’t get a day off because my weekend fell on Marine Day, I was still excited to visit the Port of Nagoya and see the fireworks. Overall the experience was okay, but the fireworks weren’t that spectacular (I’ve seen better in Baltimore). Anyway, here are some pictures from my adventure!

Hidden Gem: Blind Whino

This past Saturday I was lucky enough to participate in a community service event held by the organizers of Broccoli City Festival in order to earn a discounted ticket to the festival. We made over 800 lunches for the less fortunate and it was a great feeling to be a part of a movement to end hunger in DC and surrounding areas. What made it even better was the venue where the event was held, a concert hall called the Blind Whino. Complete with an art gallery it was one of the most beautiful buildings I’ve seen in DC. Take a look at some of the pics I took!
