OOTD: Jinja

Jinja is the Japanese word for shrine. Today for the first time I visited the Minamisawa Hikawa Shrine, a five minute walk from my apartment building. It had a serene and peaceful feeling and shrines are fast becoming my favorite places to take pictures. It was also such a beautiful experience to see some of the senior citizens in the community coming to the shrine to pray and pay their respects to their ancestors. I went with my friend Ruth and she was able to get some great shots of me! Check them out below!

OOTD: Black and White

Today’s outfit is representative of the day; relaxed, simple and clean. I like to spend my Mondays reading, blogging, doing laundry, watching movies, cleaning my apartment and eating whatever my heart desires. These are all forms of self care and methods I use to de-stress after a work week (especially after working a 6 day week like the one I just had!). I’m wearing some UniqloxLemaire white pants. I bought a few pieces from this collection and these pants are my least favorite out of the bunch but they went very well with my Monday aesthetic. I paired them with a simple H&M tank top and some dramatic sunglasses to finish off the look. Check out my look below!

New Kicks

It’s always a good day when a gal like me gets some new gear and a couple of weekends ago I scored some new shoes while out shopping in Shibuya! The first pair is a pair of medium length (is there an actual term for these?) black boots from Zara. They were 9000 yen which is around 80 USD. They’re now the highest heel shoe I own in Japan and I hope to wear them sometime this fall (maybe out clubbing or to a fashion event!). The second pair I bought were the “Forrest Gump” Vintage Nike Cortez sneaker. In most color ways, I wouldn’t look twice at this shoe but the clean red, white and blue combination was irresistible to me. I was a little salty that all the other colors cost 8000 yen and this particular color way cost 2000 yen more but I bit the bullet and bought them. These will be the last shoes I buy for a while because of my trip to Bali! It’ll be my first time in Indonesia and I have to save some money to truly enjoy myself. I’ll be going for my Christmas vacation so in the meantime I’ll try to stay out of the thrift store 🙂 Check out my new purchases below!

OOTD: Serenity

Yesterday I spent my day in natures palm, with my new friend Ruth! She took these beautiful pictures of me and I took pictures of the scenery around us. We explored the area around Sayama Lake, a stones throw away from Western Tokyo in neighboring Saitama Prefecture. I’m very excited to know such beautiful nature is so close to where I live! Details about my outfit and pictures below, everyone enjoy their week!

Latest Treasure Factory Haul

Today is Sunday, and the first day I’ve had completely to myself this whole month. I took today to de-stress and have a #SelfCareSunday, which included making a nice meal for myself, taking a nap, watching reruns of trash reality TV shows and of purging my closet of summer clothes I’m not in love with or that were impulse buys that I now regret. I took the discarded clothing over to Hard Off, a Japanese chain of thrift stores that sells used clothing for very cheap prices. I took in two pairs of shoes, three dresses, two bags, a jacket, a pair of shorts and a hat, and got a grand total of 590 yen. If you’re looking to get rich off of your old clothing, selling to thrift stores is definitely not the place to do it and I learned that today. I was a little shocked at first at how little money I received but overall it felt good to get rid of things that don’t bring me joy by wearing them. After the purge, I went over to Treasure Factory, another thrift store nearby my apartment. It has a way better selection and I found some treasures that I’m absolutely in love with! Check them out below!

Saw the sleeves on this shirt from across the store and ran.

The LBD. I have five now, including this one. This particular frock is See by Chloe and 100% silk 🙂

I envision this vintage purse paired with a clean white shirt tucked into high waist jeans and some tortoise shell sunglasses.
Snagged this brand new Opening Ceremony tee for just a third of the retail price!

APC Long sleeve that gives a slight nautical feel.

My birthday weekend!

So Monday was my actual birthday but I celebrated on the weekend with some close family friends! Saturday I went to dinner with one of my good friends I’ve made in tokyo so far, Sho. Afterwards we went bar hopping, where I proceeded to turn up off of life. I swear I was sober as a button and the only thing in that glass was ginger ale. I swore off drinking (except for a birthday glass of wine) because of the excess of alcohol I consumed in Thailand. This weekend I’m going to start my own original detox to get rid of the toxins I’ve acquired this month through poor food choices and drinking too much. Anyway I had a nice sober time at one of my favorite bars, Gaspanic. This place has a club feel and you can dance and not feel awkward, unlike most bars in Tokyo. I tried to create a #lewk but the lighting doesn’t do my outfit justice, in my opinion.
On Sunday I celebrated with my Japanese family, the Okamotos. They are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met and they always welcome me into their home with open arms. They are friends of my father and since moving to Tokyo, they’ve made my transition to life here so much more comfortable. They took me to a nice Italian restaurant, where we celebrated with an abundance of pizza, pasta, chicken, beef and much more. I had a great time and am so thankful to them for their lovely gifts and thoughtfulness!

Check out some pictures from my amazing weekend below!

Ciao! 🎂🍹

New OOTD post coming soon! Till then be good and take care of yourselves…and each other.

My looks from Phuket

So hey guys I just recently got back from my vacation in Phuket 🇹🇭! It was awesome and much needed. Along the way I met some really nice people, tried new things and tried to look as bomb as I could without screaming “tourist” with my fits. I don’t usually invest in summer clothing because it’s just not my season for fashion and so the annual H&M 70% sale was a godsend. I bought so many tips and shorts at amazing prices like Â¥500 yen a piece! These are some pictures of what I wore during my six days in Thailand!
